Ana Power

I realize that by posting these videos I may be adding fuel to the Ana fire. However, this is just a very small sampling of what can be found all over the web, so the Ana’s & Mia’s will find them anyway.

My goal is to raise awareness to women and mothers who are totally unaware of the Pro-Ana lifestyle, so you can talk with the girls in your life, watch their eating behaviors, and encourage a healthy body image.

The first video is Pro-Ana (code for PRO ANOREXIA, yes there is such a thing).

The second is a video from a model in France. I was tricked. The first time I watched it, I thought she was trying to point out the misery in being a model and anorexic. Watch it twice and you will see she is a Pro-Ana.

Our job as adult women is to:

1) not look away

2) be role models for our girls

3) understand what fuels this mental illness – LOW SELF ESTEEM (or I should say NO self esteem).

It starts young, statistics are showing that around 9-10 girls get on the dieting bandwagon, so please be aware of your own behaviors to assure you are not in any way contributing to their body image issues.

If each of us makes a difference in one or two girls lives, we can turn this around.

Be here now.

You have got to be kidding me. I have never heard of this. Pro Ana. Brings tears to my eyes. We all have free will but to choose destruction just seems insane. WoW. I am starting a women’s project this year. This is how I found your website. Thank you for what you are doing. We as women, I agree, need to pave the way for the young minds so that are not tainted with negative thoughts!

Thank you for what your doing!!
    Many blessings…

It’s not enough to say “Ana’s are stupid and should die!!!”

They need to be understood so thank you for promoting understanding. And let me add this- if you suspect a loved one of an eating disorder, do not be accusatory or act suspicious. It will only make them more secretive and fuel their ED even more. Peace.

    I am anorexic.
    My life is anorexia.
It hurt my family to much to see the bones piercing my skin, that they left.
    I will win.
    I will be thin.
Even if it is in my coffin.

I think the two biggest mistakes that family, friends and other supporters make when they find out about someone’s eating disorder are telling them they are idiots and/or trying to force them into recovery.

If you try to force us, we will resist if we are not ready for it. If you try to force us, we will lose the weight again. Let us know that you are there for us, let us know that we are loved, and let us come to you in our own time.
